Precautions:
- Take readings very carefully
- To avoid undue pressure on the object between studs, use ratchet and not the drum for screwing
Sources of Errors:
- The surface of object under observation may not be smooth.
- The fixed stud, the movable stud, the micrometer screw and the nut of the instrument may not all be coaxial.
