Two Conditions of Equilibrium Sources of Error and Precautions
Equilibrium Experiment Sources of Error:
- The metre scale may not be perfectly horizontal.
- The slotted weight used may not be accurate.
- Bending of the metre scale.
- Inaccuracy in the measurement of lengths.
- The wind or running fan at the place of experiment may cause error in observations.
- Human error.
Equilibrium Practical Precautions:
- The loops supporting the slotted weights should be vertical.
- The metre scale should always be horizontal and edgewise.
- Avoid the bending of the metre scale using appropriate weights.
- The moment arm should not be small.
